ABOUT ME
I am a seasoned communications professional well-versed in various communication and design platforms. I have been working for nonprofits and publications around the Washington D.C. metro region since 2011. I was previously the Marketing and Communications Coordinator at Charities Aid Foundation of America and a Communications Intern at the Association of Unmanned Vehicles International. I was also the Editorial Assistant at India Currents magazine and have worked as a freelance journalist and anchor at Global India Newswire and Image in Asian Television. I also interned at the Health Management and Research Institute in southern India in partnership with the MacArthur Foundation in the Marketing department. My passion to learn and further my knowledge and skills in communications led me to pursue and successfully graduate with a Master's degree in Strategic Communication from American University in 2017. I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in International Studies and Journalism from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2013. My education and work experiences have given me a platform to navigate the vast communications landscape. I have developed digital and social media communication campaigns, crafted written and design content, and created multiple and multi-faceted communication strategies. With a diverse experience working at and with nonprofit organizations around the world, I have the ability to work with people from all backgrounds. I view it as an opportunity to learn from others and develop meaningful relationships with the organization I represent as well. As an Indian-American, I am in the unique position where I understand the nuances that come with working in a globalized world. I am an ardent believer in global citizenship and developed a keen interest in keeping up with world news and trends. I am deeply connected to my Indian heritage through the arts, dance, literature, and news. These experiences have allowed me to appreciate both my American and Indian identities and I seize the opportunity to learn from otherpeople and their experiences. I am always looking to better my current skills and enhance my knowledge and will work hard to contribute to the orgnization's objectives as well. I am looking for opportunities in digital communication and web content and development. I am in progress.
